Trump Approval Drops to Lowest Since His Second Term

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump's public support has slumped to its weakest point since he returned to the White House, with a fresh Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday placing his approval rating at just 34 percent.

The figure marks a measurable decline from the previous Reuters/Ipsos survey, conducted between April 15 and 20, which recorded a 36 percent approval rating — itself already a fragile threshold for the sitting president.

The erosion in support is being driven primarily by deepening public frustration over the cost of living. Trump's approval on economic affordability issues fell to 22 percent, down from 25 percent in the prior poll — a sharp signal that household financial pressures are taking a tangible political toll.

Compounding those concerns, joint U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran — launched on February 28 — have pushed domestic gasoline prices up by more than 40 percent, delivering a direct blow to American consumers at the pump.

The conflict itself is drawing diminishing public backing. Just 34 percent of Americans said they support the ongoing military engagement with Iran, a figure that has eroded steadily from 36 percent in mid-April and 38 percent in mid-March — suggesting a consistent and accelerating loss of appetite for the military campaign among the broader public.

The nationwide online survey captured responses from 1,269 U.S. adults, providing a statistically grounded snapshot of shifting sentiment across the country.
